JG Kilts

JG Kilts offers a made to measure, hand sewn kilt in the tartan of your choice.

Since I was little i had always been fascinated with how such an extremely large rectangle piece of cloth could become a Kilt and thought that one day I would learn as I love hand sewing. Growing up my work life took a different path and was a software engineer for years until I was made redundant in 2007. This would have been the perfect opportunity to learn the art of kiltmaking but at this time my health was not very good and unable to undertake such a task. So at the age of 50 I decided it was nor or never and started my kiltmaking journey and another tick off the bucket list. So what makes a kilts I hear you ask.: 8 yards of Tartan; 50+ feet of thread; 2000+ stitches; attention to detail; sore fingers with all my kilts being hand sewn and finally the love of my craft. As well as making kilts I also offer a alteration service for kilts and make scarves, ponchos and hand fasting ties.
