Barking Owl Books is an Ayrshire based pop up book shop who provide the full range of genuine Usborne products. I offer a personalised service to ensure you're getting the right products for you and your family. I offer free local contactless delivery. I have been working online since 2020 and organised some small online events with other lovely local businesses. When it's safe to do so I will be available for local events and fetes.

My initial draw to being an Independent Usborne Organiser was to find more books for my family, and I quickly realised I could support others through this work. I set up a community book pledge for a wonderful local charity, and with the help of my amazing customers was able to donate over £170 worth of books to local children supported by Spotty Zebras. 

I have continued to support local charities and causes where I can, and between August 2020 and March 2021, donated over £500 worth of our books, activities and more. 

Our 3000+ products range from fiction and non-fiction for a variety of ages and subjects, to jigsaws, arts and crafts activities, mindfulness products, snap cards, foreign language learning, reading support and more. I love to support schools, early years centres, libraries, children's groups and care homes, giving access to some of our award winning books and activities by running events where I can offer extra free items on top of anything raised. I also work with individuals and families to find the right products for their needs: pre reader and new readers, reluctant or confident readers, problem solving and artistic types, we have something for everyone. My background is as a registered social care worker, so I am confident in working with individuals with various disabilities or dementia to find a product that is suitable for their enjoyment. 

I also have a young family so am happy to recommend what we have enjoyed ourselves! I run a few book clubs or easy opt in and out subscriptions aimed at different age groups. I am familiar with the majority of our titles and can easily find the information you might require such as avoiding specific subjects.
