Samantha is an emerging artist living in rural Straiton, part of the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere. She works from a studio in her garden where surroundings are an important influence on her work, with wildlife and the natural world being regular subjects of inspiration. During lockdown this became particularly notable as she had time to watch and study the insects in her garden, all forever busy in a world that had otherwise ground to a halt. Their importance is highlighted in her subsequent 'Pollinator' series of work. Samantha paints mainly in acrylic on linen board but also mixed media, pastel and charcoal. She aims to capture the delicacy of atmosphere and expression surrounding her subject, be it in nature or the human form.
